Your Heart… And Your Chinese Astrology

Did you remember to celebrate the Lunar New Year, a la the Chinese Zodiac, on January 31st? If you’re Chinese, you probably did. If you didn't, I’m wondering if you know what you’re missing! You may be surprised that the Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival, is interacting with your life as we speak.

The New Moon’s Track changes every year, creating energy fluctuations throughout our solar system, influencing life right here on Earth. The natural Chinese New Year is celebrated at the second new moon after the winter solstice. This falls between January 21st and February 19th on the calendar many of us use, the Gregorian Calendar. Meanwhile, my dear friends, the Chinese Calendar is over 4,000 years old, so you KNOW it’s proven itself over time.

Here’s a chart you may want to pay attention to. It’s no coincidence that 2014, starting January 31st, is the year of the horse with its agent being wood. Take a look at the 12-Year Chinese Cycle. 2026 is the next Year of the Horse, and it’s agent will be Fire.

YEAR Chinese New Year Animal Agent
2014 January 31 Horse Wood
2015 February 19 Goat Wood
2016 February 8 Monkey Fire
2017 January 28 Rooster Fire
2018 February 16 Dog Earth
2019 February 5 Pig Earth
2020 January 25 Rat Metal
2021 February 12 Ox Metal
2022 February 1 Tiger Water
2023 January 22 Rabbit Water
2024 February 10 Dragon Wood
2025 January 29 Snake Wood
2026 February 17 Horse Fire

If you do some consistent journaling, as I reccomend in my Manifestation Guide, you’ll find many correlations between years with the same Animals. I’ll bet you’ll be surprised how many times your experience of a year is very similar to other years with the same animal. It can be helpful to write down your feelings about each year.

Did you feel differently about similar experiences, depending on the year? How are you evolving through the years? Was there something that devastated you many years ago that now wouldn’t faze you nearly as profoundly?

I bet you’ll find you draw certain types of people, experiences, and maybe other opportunities into your life during “matching” years.

In the Chinese culture, the Horse symbolizes love, endurance, practicality, stability and devotion. There’s something particularly strong about you during this year.. Some sort of endurance strength that you probably don’t experience as much during other years.

The year of Wood means breaking from the groundedness (“stuckness”) of Earth. So 2014 Chinese Year is about breaking the bounds that were holding you back in 2013, focused on seeking stability, and loving, devoted relationships. Mind you, what you choose to be is what you attract!.

Chinese Zodiac Elements

All of these Elements are active in your daily Life. Reflect for a moment upon the cycle that creates, nurtures and inspires living.

Meanwhile, here we are in the Year of the Horse: powerful and noble.

Where are you choosing to be powerful and noble in your relationships? Whoever you attract into your Life ~ Every single person ~ seeks your noble love. When you see through the eyes of Spirit, you see the powerful, magnificent person you are. And that person shines brightest when recognizing your nobility ~ The fact that YOU are a blessing for each and every person in your Life!

A good way to start is to do some numerology work, or maybe learn about the Chinese symbols for nobility, power and magnificence. Absorbing yourself in that search and learning projects some of the relevant qualities into your being... allowing you to naturally connect with and express your wondrous qualities

The Year of the Horse brings up the Horse’s representations of Freedom and Grace. Can you see how the most powerful beings are those that lovingly, gracefully choose the noble path ~ The path of service to those you love? When you nobly and gracefully offer your truest heart to someone, you offer them the stability of your enduring love and commitment. At that point, you are powerful! Why? Because you’re channeling the Universe's Light.

Believe it or not, the Chinese Zodiac was developed during the times of the Zhou Dynasty, 1046–256 BC - Yes, a very, very long time ago! Many generations of skeptics, scholars, doubters have all been convinced of the validity and vital lessons and directions offered within it’s powerful characters and symbols

Our beloved Chinese brothers and sisters deemed the Moon’s Earth Orbit to be the critical tracking aspect for development of a calendar. The Western part of our World generally refers to the Gregorian Calendar, which is based on the Earth’s Solar Orbit.

So, what happens when the Chinese New Year transpires? Well, first, the monster of the passing year (called “Nian”) requires attention! Like any transition or transformation, the Nian is an angry, cruel monster seeking fulfillment. The Chinese honor their responsibility to appease the New Year Nian by shooting off fireworks and wearing red (their color for Good Luck). If we choose to ignore transitions, taking them for granted, their “monster” will create havoc in our lives.

If you choose to honor the time-tested truths of the Chinese Zodiac, then please consider finding your own safe, transformational ways to appease Nian. Perhaps figure out what YOUR lucky colour is.. Maybe your Life Path number should be taken into account.. Find some means to honor the fact that you are a spirit-loved member of our universe, and therefore deserve the positive aspects of your Chinese Zodiac!

The Chinese Zodiac is based on the Lunisolar Calendar. This calendar considers both the solar year and the moon phases. They found that, while most years have 12 months, that a 13th month is experienced every second or third year. All of this is associated with/based in.

The WuXing

The Chinese early on recognized Seven Classical Planets - Bodies that are constantly in movement. Our seven days of the week have been named after the Five Classical Planets, and the Chinese Zodiac Elements are all connected to them.

Omitting the Earth and Moon, they arrived at the associated elements which signify the remaining Five Classical Planets

Jupiter’s Orbit inspired development of the twelve-year Animal Symbols Cycle. The actual Celestial Circle takes 11.86 years, which they rounded to 12.

Which year were you born?

Your birthday determines your Chinese Zodiac Sign, and there’s a classic Chinese saying, “The Animal Hides In Your Heart”!
